Strategic Mobility Hubs for sustainable urban development
Q-Park confirms that over 150 parking facilities have been awarded the Q-Park ’Mobility Hub’ label, signifying its role in multimodal transport integration and urban accessibility enhancement. The Mobility Hub label certifies that these parking facilities provide parking, charging, booking and sharing.
These labelled Mobility Hubs are connected to the Q-Park Parking as as Smart Service (PaSS) Platform, enabling digital parking solutions for motorists, businesses, cities and mobility partners as well.
They are all strategically located to support sustainable urban mobility, they integrate parking with essential services such as electric vehicle (EV) charging, pre-booking propositions which reduce search traffic, car and bicycle sharing, and proximity to public transport.
To date, over 50 of them are equipped with Mobility Hub signage.
Sustainable Mobility Partner vision
Q-Park Mobility Hubs are the cornerstone of our ’Sustainable Mobility Partner’ (SMP) Programme. This initiative aligns with European and local mobility strategies to:
Improve accessibility to city centres.
Enhance liveability through reduced congestion.
Promote sustainability and modal shift.
Support urban equity and climate adaptation.
“Private vehicles remain part of a well-functioning city. However, we actively promote alternatives that contribute to a healthier urban environment,“ says Theo Thuis, Managing Director Innovations. “By transitioning from on-street to off-street parking, we help cities reclaim public space for greenery, culture, and active mobility.“
Alignment with Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs)
Q-Park Mobility Hubs are designed to complement Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans. They contribute to:
Safer and more inclusive urban environments.
Increased space for pedestrians, cyclists, and green infrastructure.
Climate resilience through water storage and reduced emissions.
Collaborative planning with municipalities.
Q-Park engages with city officials and civil servants early in the planning process to co-develop mobility solutions tailored to local needs. In seven West European countries, our Mobility Hubs are embedded within municipal mobility frameworks, serving as integral components rather than add-ons.
Digital ecosystem & traffic transformation
Our digital platform enables seamless pre-booking for motorists, retailers, event venues, and hospitality providers. This reduces inner-city search traffic and transforms it into efficient destination traffic, improving flow and accessibility.
EV charging & shared mobility services
Q-Park Mobility Hubs offer:
Extensive off-street EV charging infrastructure.
Integration with car-sharing and micro-mobility providers.
Direct access to public transport nodes.
These features empower users to make informed, sustainable transport choices.
