Philharmonie, Paris

The Philharmonie concert hall is a modern structure ideally located to enjoy the Parc de la Villette with its many attractions including the Grande Halle de la Villette, the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, and the Zenith. Its highly original architecture – which conceals all its corners both above and below ground – presented new challenges for Q-Park when designing the parking spaces, entrances and exits.

Michèle Salvadoretti, General Manager of Q-Park France, explains: “The Philharmonie is one of the most innovative and long-awaited projects in the capital. So we were honoured to participate in this very beautiful project. The result reaffirms our track record in the design and management of car parks around the most iconic cultural sites, and our desire to participate in projects of high technical and architectural significance.”

Q-Park signature features were incorporated and adapted to meet the requirements of the building, with special attention to routing, signposting and house style colours. Motorists parking at Philharmonie de Paris now benefit from:

  • One-way traffic

  • Effective illuminated signage

  • Optimised guidance system to spaces

  • Multiple barriers (2 for entry and 3 for exit)

  • Smooth traffic flow in the car park and on street

  • Two pedestrian entrances at street level

Architectural integration

To integrate the car park into the visual whole of the architectural project, the Q-Park house style was especially adapted to a lively red and two shades of grey chosen by Parisian architects Ateliers Jean Nouvel.

In addition to a high-quality car park under the concert hall, some of the billboards in the car park will be used to showcase the Philharmonie’s rich artistic and musical programme. Regular visitors can book their parking space online so that they are on time when the conductor raises the baton!

The project took 3.5 years to complete with an investment of EUR 1.2 million. This project also confirms Q-Park’s experience in developing and managing car parks near iconic cultural sites such as the Opéra Bastille, the Musée du Louvre, the Auditorium de Bordeaux, the Opéra National de Marseille, as well as our commitment to integrating our activities into the historical heritage of the cities with which we work.

The facility has space for 564 cars (including 16 places for persons with reduced mobility) and 90 motorcycles, spread over two underground floors. It offers direct access to the concert halls and is close to public transport connections (metro, bus and tram) to the various districts of the French capital.
